A Happy New Year from the team at Osterley. We all hope you had a good break. The house team have been back at work for almost a week now and have got stuck into continuing the Winter Clean. More about that next time but we thought we’d share with you some pictures of our housekeeping store which houses our essential equipment for cleaning Osterley House.
Before you view this last shot, please be warned, these are insect traps which we have collected from around the house, therefore you may spy an insect or two. Look away now if you cannot abide insects of any kind.
In today’s post, we will focus on the insects caught at Osterley upon a recent inspection of the traps around the house. Be advised – there will be pictures.
During Osterley Weekend, a few weeks ago, the house team held two demonstrations of Conservation in Action, to highlight some of the work the team do around the house on a regular basis. If you visited us during this weekend, you may have seen our Assistant House Steward, Kirsty, cleaning fire irons in the Entrance Hall. Meanwhile, upstairs, in one of our store rooms, the second demonstration caused some trepidation for visitors who were brave enough to venture in. Continue reading
